Terminology of Carbon Feedstock (Reddit)

What is "renewable carbon"?
Traditionally, the carbon in plastics, fuels, and chemicals comes from fossil sources (oil, gas, coal). Renewable carbon instead comes from above-ground sources:

  • Biomass (plants, wood, algae)

  • CO₂ (captured from air or industrial exhaust)

  • Recycling (plastic waste, other materials)

This survey asks about the words and terms people use for these carbon sources – because language varies a lot between countries, and we want to make communication clearer.

Any responses will remain confidential – and we really appreciate anyone who takes the time to participate :)
